Creativity Day 7 - Adding the Finishing Touches

Actually yesterday was supposed to be day 7 but sometimes the ideas just take a bit longer to actually turn into realities.

When I was sewing my paper pieced sections together it came to me that this would make a cute tote so as soon as I was done with the circle I took it apart and started working on my idea.

The little tote has a a lining with a double pocket on the inside, one open pocket and one with a zipper to secure valuables.  The tote itself has a magnetic closure so that everything says out of sight inside the purse.

This project has taken five days to complete but now I have some new found knowledge and inspiration for future projects.  I have learned that using my computer to design can be fun and inspiring and making a Mariner's Compass quilt block is no longer as intimidating as it used to be.

Tomorrow starts my second week of my Creativity Project and I hope my readers continue to drop in and comment or share ideas with me.

Friday's Featured Shops

Every day I click and comment on Etsy treasuries and I find beautiful one of a kind items I would love to have for my very own. Of course if I hit the purchase button everytime I would definitely have the shopping police at my front door and would end up living in the poor house. I don't think that would be any fun so I can only "love from afar" and hope that someday I can afford to live in the lap of luxury and be able to afford anything my heart desires.

The first shop in this weeks selection is a repeat offender.

I love items with a Victorian flair and this pincushion found at DebiDesigns is definitely a beauty. Sitting atop a candlestick this pincushion would make a beautiful Christmas gift for the quilter, crafter, seamstress or pincushion collector in your life. Embellished in ribbon embroidery and beads this items is a true heirloom item. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5034584

Our second culprit is "Artsy Clay" with this beautiful blue bracelet called "Spectrum of Blue". With blue beads in every shade this lovely bracelet reminds me of the ocean, this would make a great accent piece to wear anywhere. You can find this lovely bracelet and other great items at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=26025

Rounding our lineup we have "Grace Pottery", with this beautiful pitcher called "S-Pouty Pitcher", and the best thing is that it is food safe. I can see putting this on my table any day of the week because it is both functional and beautiful. You can find some lovely pieces of pottery that would make great items for your home or for gifts at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7512471
If you have any "most wanteds" in your favorites list please share, I am always interested in finding more wonderful items on Etsy.

Friday Feature

This week I am featuring four different Etsy artisans whose items I just love

The first item in my favorites this week is this lovely "Bohemian Tulips Wooden Trinket Box" by Anycards. You will find many different styles and designs in this shop that are great gift items for yourself or someone else. Check this shop out just in time for holiday gift giving.

My next three picks for this week come from members of the Homefront Team. This team is a group of military spouses and significant others that help support and serve this country in their own way. Behind every soldier there is a family that loves them, supports them and prays for them daily and these three are some of those dedicated people.

At "D-Lightful Designs" I found this cute little polymer clay dragon named "Pansy" and at a petite 4 inches tall she is a cutie. The detail in this sculpture is amazing and she can be found frolicking with some of her friends athttp//www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22429798

My next pick is on the more practical side but is still a fun and unique little item. The banner in this shop reads, "reduce, reuse, recycle", and by the looks of this little notebook this shop lives by its words.

If you are like me I am always hunting for something to write on and this notebook would be perfect for jotting down those grocery lists or to keep notes on your next project. This is also a great holiday gift and great for a stocking stuffer. You can find this and a variety of other designs at "The Chameleons Attic" http//www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23783429

When I saw this picture I found it so moving, inspiring and close to my heart, especially as a member of the Homefront Team.

This 5X7 photograph of a bronzed flag that is part of a War Memorial in Powell, Wyoming titled, "Our Flag Was Still There", is one of the many beautiful items you will find at CreationsAnew. Note cards and frameable pictures that are beautiful as well as inspiring are the items you will find in this shop. Another shop with some great gift giving ideas. http//www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26544860

I hope you enjoyed my picks this week and will help support our military families and other Etsy artisans by buying handmade.
